Type of Patients All elective and emergency patients under the Thoracic, Vascular, General Surgical and Medical units.
Major case patients attend a pre-admission clinic. We have a multi –discipline approach to our patient care with our discharges at the appropriate time with supports in place for a successful recovery.

Nurse / Patient Ratio AM 1:4 PM 1: 4 Nights 1:8
Patient Perspective
Patients/families are encouraged to assist with the care delivered to them. Participation with care takes place on ward rounds with medical and nursing staff.
Staff Perspective Staff outlook is a positive learning environment which gives support to all unit staff, graduates or undergraduate students.

West 3 functions within a thought provoking financial budget which reflects economical use of supplies and resources.
This unit is open to change and of ongoing improvement.
Skill Mix: West 3 has a combination of experienced Associate Nurse Unit Mangers, with skilled Clinical Nurse Specialists, and a broad range of Registered Nurses, Division 1 and 2 and also Graduate nurses.
Strong nurse skill mix, with a supportive work environment.
Excellent staff retention.
Facilities Modern new Unit with spacious rooms with clean fresh environment. Close to public transport and staff car parking facilities available
Staff Education Regular in-services by ward nurses to other ward nurses.
Formal sessions with clinical educators.
Education courses available to all staff.
